Disaster Emergency Relief
Disasters strike with little or no warning. They leave destruction, suffering and turmoil in their wake. They come in all forms and intensities, and everyone is a potential victim. Those devastated by these unexpected storms in life need help and need it quickly. Financial aid as well as providing food, clothes, blankets and medical supplies have been part of Omega’s emergency relief work.
Omega’s mission projects on the Philippine islands of Samar and Negros were right in the path of a massive storm. We are grateful to God for protecting our children’s homes and our people from serious injuries and damage, but that also placed us in the unique position to provide immediate emergency aid to the victims.
Although a great relief effort was on the way, help from the government and large aid agencies could not reach most of the affected areas due to airports being damaged and roads washed out and littered with debris. Our teams were able to deliver aid immediately to the surrounding areas and even took truck loads with supplies by barge to a neighboring island.
